Portrait Session: Birth of a Star Community Salon

It's been about a year since my wife and I moved into the Shaw neighborhood of St. Louis. We moved into the neighborhood to be closer to Tower Grove Park and to be active participants in our neighborhood, something we longed for while staying in Clifton Heights. So far Shaw has been incredible. I have had countless individuals participate in my Framed Series and I often find myself in conversations with local people as I walk around the neighborhood taking pictures.

One of these local conversations was with Faizah of Birth of a Star Community Salon. Birth of a Star is a new salon at Thurman and Shenandoah and Faizah has been hard at work putting together an incredible experience for her customers.

I recently had the privilege to meet up with Faizah and her salon partner Pepita for a quick portrait session. It was an incredible evening with golden hour light as we made it into Tower Grove Park. We found a space sandwiched between mature pine trees which framed the light perfectly and provided an incredible backdrop to their images. The entire session went well and I had a blast. Although the light was waning quickly, Faizah and Pepita worked through the sessions like pros and their images came out great.
