I met John several months ago and connected on Instagram, staying in touch ever since. His classic style and unique perspective stood out to me. His images have a retro vibe without feeling like he tried to make them retro. I knew that I wanted to collaborate with him, I just needed the right project.
Then, a few weeks ago, I thought about how great it would be to photograph a writer in a classic black and white aesthetic. I quickly thought of John, who I've known to be a writer and all-around creative professional. John was more than willing to participate and graciously offered to be photographed in his home, which provided an incredible backdrop.
We pulled together some vintage items and shot everything in his dinning room. When it came to editing, I wanted to play with a few different styles: black and white, a color graded style, and something he could post on social media. Below are the final images from the shoot; I think they turned out great and I'm incredibly excited to have had the opportunity to work with him.
