Every once in a while, I like to give myself a challenge to see how well I can problem solve under pressure. This week I decided to give myself one hour to shoot and edit a beer bottle photo, setup and teardown included.
Because fall is here and I’m loving it, I decided to photograph one of my favorites: Schlafly Pumpkin Ale. I used one light to camera right as a main light, which was shot through a 24x36 softbox. I then used a bare speed light to fill the beer bottle with color.
I pulled everything together in Photoshop by making out areas that I didn’t need. I then added a punch of color and contrast with a curves layer. I put a picture of fallen leaves on the background and covered it with a color layer. I then added the words and used a masking layer to alter it slightly.
And here it is, the final image with only an hour of time invested.
