An Evening Developing Film with 202 Film Collective

Throughout the month of June, ClickDC has been putting on events that celebrate and explore the photography medium. It’s impossible to talk about the medium without mentioning the film community - a community of dedicated, passionate artists. For this particular event, the team at 202 Film Collective put together a workshop to explore developing black and white film. We’re talking about 35mm and 120 film for photography.

With everything setup on a ping pong table on the second floor of Colony Club, a few of the founders of 202 Film Collective walked the group of twenty-something people through some of the basic elements of developing black and white film at home. The team brought a light-sealed bag, developer, fixer, and a couple rolls of film to show the final results.

All in all, the event was great - and that’s not the happy hour beers talking. In addition to learning about developing, it was a great opportunity to talk to other photographers in the area and hear about each of their passion projects. I, for one, am looking forward to their next event.

Check out some of the images I captured during the event below. All of the images were shot on the Leica Q and edited in Lightroom… sorry, it wasn’t film. Also, don’t forget to check out 202 Film Collective on Instagram and Twitter.
